MISSION STATEMENT

The Bryn Mawr Asian American Students Association (A/ASA), is a space for Asian-identifying students, including but not limited to East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islanders.

We aim to explore and embrace the multiplicity of cultures and identities falling under the Asian umbrella, to discuss cultural, social, and political aspects relevant to our identities, and to strengthen connections in current and past members of A/ASA.

We celebrate the diversity of Asian and Asian American cultures, experiences, and identities with our members and the broader Bryn Mawr community. We celebrate and represent the diversity of the Asian diaspora at Bryn Mawr and we work to put together an annual culture show. We organize community discussions centered on API/A issues and collaborate with other student organizations on campus to foster a greater network of support. We also believe in creating a strong support network through the Tri-College Asian community and through the greater Philadelphia area, which cultivates new relationships and connections and promotes more political activism among our student body. This fall we are collaborating with HASA for the culture show to bring our communities together and to further the network we hope to strengthen. Our club has a wide array of different cultures and nationalities, which we explore and understand through sharing food together, celebrating Asian holidays, creating critical dialogue on relevant issues, and providing networking opportunities with past ASA and Bryn Mawr alumni.
